Arabic for little learners

Calm, simple Arabic, one word at a time.

نَتَعَلَّمُ العَرَبِيَّةَ مَعًا

Noor, Zaid, Reem and Rafrouf the little blue bird teach greetings, colours, numbers, feelings and good manners in short, gentle cartoons. Every video leaves a pause so your child can answer first.

How it works

  1. Watch together

Each short teaches one Arabic word or phrase and says it three or four times.

  2. Pause

When a friend asks a question, the video waits. Let your child answer before the friends do.

  3. Say it, then cheer

The friends praise every answer with أَحْسَنْتُم! (aḥsantum, well done!)

الأَصْدِقاء

Meet the friends

Four friends, one sunny courtyard. Their names are Arabic words too.

  • Noor, a girl with curly hair and coral overalls.

    Noor نُور

    Her name means light.

  • Zaid, a boy with curly hair and a teal jumper.

    Zaid زَيْد

His name means growth, more and more.

  • Reem, a girl with pigtails and a lilac top.

    Reem رِيم

Her name means a white gazelle.

  • Rafrouf, a small blue and yellow bird.

    Rafrouf رَفْرُوف

More from Afaq Learning

  • Rafrouf on the table with a rolled prayer mat, the friends behind him.

    Where to? إِلى أَيْن؟

Rafrouf arrives with a clue, the friends ask إِلى أَيْنَ يا رَفْرُوف؟ and follow him to a new place: the garden, the bakery, the masjid and further from home each time.

  • The three friends make wudu at a stone fountain.

    Nasheeds أَناشِيد

Gentle sing-alongs for everyday moments: Alhamdulillah, making wudu, SubhanAllah and Allahu Akbar.

  • The friends admire their finished crayon drawing pinned to the courtyard wall.

لِلْوالِدَيْن

Made with care, for watching together

  • One word at a time

Each short teaches a single word or phrase and repeats it, so it sticks without rushing.

  • Room to answer

A three-second pause after every question gives your child time to answer before the friends do.

  • Full vowel marks

Arabic on screen carries full harakat, and our captions give parents the transliteration and meaning.

  • Faith, checked

Every religious reference is checked against a source before it goes into a script.

  • Calm, not slow

Gentle voices, a still camera and a steady pace. Easy on little eyes and ears.

  • Same friends, same places

Noor stands on the left, Zaid in the middle and Reem on the right, so little ones always know who is talking.
